Match Report

Fir Park Corner’s relentless waddle towards an unbeaten start to the league campaign continued with a convincing 5-1 win over Glasgow Wellington.
It was a game for the romantics in the leafy west end of Glasgow. Amid driving rain in the shadows of Scotstoun Stadium, it was a contest which appeared to be being played by candelight, such was the meek ferrocity of the pitch’s floodlights.
Most of the glow was the moonlight bouncing off the heads of some on the FPC bench.
Still, there was nothing dim about the Corner’s start, which was flowing with vim, vigour and potentially vinegar.
A Tony Greer double stuck the boot into Wellington, who to be fair had kicked off well. They would get a goal back their play deserved just before the break.
However, Jamie “Why’s he called Boab” Matusavage helped restore the two-goal advantage. A magnificent assist came after his scudding free-kick walloped off an unsuspecting Wellington defender.
Brian Carson then got himself on the score sheet, finding himself so far forward his celebration was to stuff two bits of tissue up his nose while tilting his head forward.
With the game being played in the middle of a hurricane by this point in the dark, you’d think the goals would dry up. Well, think again.
Tony added his third to a five-star showing, with the Corner flexing their well-hidden muscle to stay top of the table on goal difference, narrowly ahead of Bo’Ness United.
